Modern Farmhouse - Morgan Hill

Designed as an intimate yet magnetic setting for cocktail hours and relaxed gatherings, this sitting room redefines modern farmhouse through a lens of soulful sophistication. The clients challenged us to create a space that felt welcoming, layered, and effortlessly chic—one that would invite conversation while still making a strong visual statement. Inspiration was drawn from Lenny Kravitz’s signature blend of sensual ease and understated cool, paired with the client’s love of tactile, livable luxury.

At the center of the room, custom swivel chairs upholstered in rich blue velvet form a sculptural, conversational circle—equal parts comfort and presence. Their curved silhouettes soften the architecture and encourage connection, while the saturated hue adds depth and drama against the home’s light, classic envelope. A warm brass drum table anchors the composition, introducing a subtle glow and a modern counterpoint to the room’s traditional bones.

Texture plays a leading role throughout. Italian wool drapery, tailored in inverted pleats and hung on simple French rods, frames the windows with quiet elegance and filters light with a soft, refined touch. Natural fibers underfoot and a curated mix of materials—steel, brass, wood, and glass—create a balanced tension between rustic and refined.

The hutch doubles as both display and destination, showcasing the client’s vintage glassware and offering an effortless home for evening libations. Grounded in a neutral palette and punctuated by confident blues, the space feels timeless, inviting, and distinctly personal—a room designed not just to be seen, but to be lived in.
