MY JOURNEY

RELAXED + REFINED

In 1997, I left Boston for Southern California—drawn by ambition, curiosity, and a desire for something more. After an early pursuit of acting, I built a career in tech and fitness, sharpening my eye for strategy and growth. Still, I was missing a creative outlet that felt truly personal.

Interior design changed that. I returned to school, committed fully, and found my calling.

Today, more than 14 years in, my work reflects a balance of instinct and intention—where Boston roots meet a relaxed California sensibility. I’m drawn to contrast: tailored plaids, timeworn antiques, and a touch of sparkle—layered to create spaces that feel soulful and deeply considered.

OUTSIDE OF

WORK

ROOTED + GLOBAL

A natural conversationalist, I bring an energetic yet grounded presence to both my work and relationships. I’m a mother, a wife, and an avid home cook—someone who speaks the language of cooking, finding inspiration in the ritual of gathering, hosting, and creating at home.

Outside the studio, I travel often, seeking out new perspectives and global influence—most recently in Dubai and India. Closer to home, you’ll find me immersed in nature, practicing yoga, hiking with my Portuguese Water dog, Magz, or unwinding with a good book.

Design, for me, is inherently personal. Over the course of a project, clients often become friends—our work together rooted in trust, collaboration, and a shared appreciation for creating something meaningful.

The Story of JAS Interior
Designs

15 Years and Counting...

I’ve always been drawn to improving how people experience the spaces around them. My early career in fitness and high-tech sales sharpened my foundation in strategy and results, but it was design that ultimately offered a more meaningful, creative expression.

After returning to study interior design, I refined my approach at respected Bay Area firms, including Bethe Cohen Design, where I developed a sensitivity to balance, texture, and timeless form. I later joined DeMattei Construction, gaining a deeper understanding of the building process and the importance of executing design with clarity and precision.

Following the launch of my independent practice, my first solo project earned a 2017 Silver Award in Hospitality Design for Emerging Professionals—an early milestone that marked the beginning of JAS Interior Designs and a growing portfolio of thoughtfully curated, design-driven homes.
